General Motors automobiles made for 1959 were huge and had radical designs including stylish fins. They were a sight to behold, and still are. My father owned a 1959 Pontiac Catalina Coupe. it weighed 3870 pounds, was over 17 feet long. It sported rear twin fins, and had an 8 cylinder 389 cubic-inch V-8 engine that propelled this big car around town. It’s price was around $3,000. Today the price of this 1959 auto ranges from $24,000 to $85,000.
